SAT MOHANE DEURALI TAMU SAMAJ

We are Kathmandu based Tamus’ of about 100+ family. We are mainly from -

To the North - Thama/Thulsora to Lipyani/Betyani.
To the South - Okhaldi to Tharpu.
To the East - Madi river including Karpu, Jita Tandra, Mewa Bari and Kalesti.
To the West - Seti river including Dhora.

Historically, this region is knows as \\\"Chha (6) Thum\\\". But sadly enough, during the
Rana regime \\\"6 Thum\\\" was divided into three districts. East Kaski, North Tanahun and
South/West Lamjung. However, due to our rich culture, religious belief and strong
blood connection, Tamus of this region have been successful to safeguard their
ancestral way of life to this date.

With ever ending demand of human kind, a majority of Tamus from this region had
migrated to Kathmandu during 90’s. As a result \\\"Sat Mohane Deurali Tamu Samaj\\\" was
established to continue this legacy and it has unique identity of it\\\'s own of recent
times.

We do practice bonism. Our Khegis (purohit) are Paidi, Ghyapri, Pachyu and Tamu Lama.

We are neither a big organisation nor have an intention of expanding it in future.
But we do strongly believe in our religion and culture. We are giving our utmost
effort to maintain our way of life through our culture and religion. We are fully
hopeful and strongly believe, we are not far off with our system although it is
hundreds of year old.
